It is the intent of our Children’s Ministries to support parents in their pledge to guide, teach, love, and care for their children in the Christian faith. By learning early about God’s love, children can develop friendships and a sense of belonging that will strengthen them. Children are a blessing to all of us!

Kids Explore ...exploring worship, play & art (Age 3 through 5^th Grade)

Join the fun this fall at “Kids Explore” on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Children will explore worship, music, play, and art as they learn more about God and grow deeper in their faith. “Kids Explore” will bless our congregation by singing in worship on several Sundays throughout the year. Children will be separated by age: “Kids Explore” (1st-5th grade) and “Wee Kids Explore“ (3 years old-Kindergarten). For more information please contact Patty Waterhouse at patty_w@salem-ladue.org.

Children in Worship and Nursery Care

Children are welcome in all of our worship services. Families are encouraged to worship together, and children may participate in all or part of the service as they wish. Our 10:45 a.m. service is especially designed for families with children as it has a "Children’s Sermon" included early in the service. All children are invited to hear a special message designed just for them. "Children’s Busy Bags" are available just outside the sanctuary and are prepared each week with coloring activities and chenille stems to occupy children during worship.

Nursery care is available on Sunday mornings from 8:15 am - Noon. Our paid nursery staff are competent, trained, and screened so we may provide a safe, loving environment for your children. The Salem Nursery is also available during some church activities. Pagers are provided for parents of infants so that we are able to contact you at any time. Room 202 is available for infants, crawlers, and beginning walkers. Childcare for preschoolers is available in Room 203. Please stop by on Sunday morning and tour the Salem Nursery which is located next to the Sanctuary.

Children’s Ministries support parents as they guide, teach, love, and lay the foundational pieces of Christian faith development for all children . Through early learning about God’s love, children develop friendships and an understanding of the Bible and its relevance to their lives. Nurturing families and faith development are aims at Salem. Infant and Toddler Nursery - Sundays, 8:15 a.m.-Noon-Room 202, 203, & 204

Nursery care is available on Sunday mornings for all worship services and for Sunday School. Our excellent nursery staff is competent, trained, and screened so we may provide a safe, loving environment for children. Pagers are provided for parents of infants. Infants and toddlers enjoy a lesson from our “Little Blessings” curriculum.

Two Year Olds through 5th Grade - Sundays, 9:30-10:30 a.m.-Exploration Place

All teachers have national background checks and are trained to lead your children in our Sunday School hour.

Two’s Class-”Little Blessings” curriculum includes simple rhymes, finger plays, and lively music that helps twos learn to associate the love they feel in Sunday school with God’s love.

Three’s Class through 5th grade- Children attend a scheduled large group time in our exciting Exploration Studio where the Bible comes alive through drama, sound, lighting and even a “green screen” that can place your child right in the middle of Jerusalem through the miracle of technology. Our children are learning through our "Rock Solid” curriculum.

Salem United Methodist Preschool

Salem United Methodist Preschool provides a high quality learning program with emphasis on the individuality of each child. Morning classes are in session from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Afternoon classes are in session from 12:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Dismissal for extended day class is 2:30 p.m. Enrichment classes are available for the pre-kindergarten year and extended day sessions are available in the afternoons, Monday through Thursday. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Class sizes are small and waiting lists are common. It is advantageous to submit applications as early as possible.
